No. Level-EZE® is the only automatic leveler that meets all ANSI standards for portable extension ladders and does not affect the manufacturer's warranty when properly installed — a position acknowledged by Werner and most major ladder brands. Cutting the bottom rung per UL guidelines preserves the original duty rating.

When the ladder is placed on a surface, both legs adjust simultaneously via an aluminum connecting rod and lock automatically with as little as 9 lbs of applied weight — no manual operation required. When the ladder is lifted, the mechanism unlocks automatically, resetting for the next placement.

Level-EZE® adds approximately 4–5 lbs to the ladder (9.5 lbs total leveler weight), significantly lighter than manual levelers which typically weigh 8–11 lbs. The reduced added weight helps workers avoid fatigue and back injuries during frequent ladder transport and repositioning throughout the workday.

Maintenance is minimal. Apply dry silicone spray (such as WD-40 Specialist Silicone or Teflon lube) occasionally — avoid standard WD-40 or greases that attract debris. In dusty environments, clean with pressurized water or air. In icy or snowy conditions, inspect and warm the mechanism before use.
