For extension ladders, ANSI and OSHA standards recommend a 75.5-degree angle — commonly expressed as a 4:1 ratio, meaning one foot of base distance for every four feet of vertical height. On uneven ground, maintaining this angle is critical. Level-EZE® ground tilt bases automatically compensate for surface irregularities to help maintain safe ladder positioning.

Level-EZE® Automatic Ladder Levelers are compatible with aluminum and fiberglass stepladders, extension ladders, combination ladders, and platform ladders. They support duty ratings up to Type 1AA at 375 lbs. Both aluminum and fiberglass versions are available, and factory installation is offered through Werner, Louisville Ladder, Bauer, Little Giant, and other major manufacturers.

No. Level-EZE® is acknowledged by most major ladder manufacturers — including Werner — as not affecting the ladder's warranty when properly installed. To preserve the original duty rating per UL recommendations, installation instructions suggest cutting the bottom rung to maintain the ladder's original manufactured length.

Installation takes approximately 25 minutes and can be completed by the ladder owner using included instructions and video tutorials available on YouTube. Field installation is also available through ladder and tool distributors for a small fee, and factory installation is offered by most major ladder manufacturers.

Level-EZE® adds approximately 4–5 lbs to the ladder, compared to 8–11 lbs for manual levelers. This lighter construction helps reduce back strain for workers who carry and reposition ladders frequently throughout the day. The total leveler assembly weighs approximately 9.5 lbs.

Level-EZE® requires minimal maintenance. Apply dry silicone spray (such as WD-40 Specialist Silicone or Teflon lubricant) occasionally. Avoid standard WD-40 or greases, which collect debris. In high-dust environments, clean with pressurized water or air. In icy or snowy conditions, inspect and warm the unit before use. A one-year defective part replacement warranty is included.
